The government backed ECO4 scheme is paid for via every households gas and electricity bills. If your heating is via and electric boiler, storage heaters or a heat pump you could qualify for free solar panels today

Did you know that there’s a government backed scheme that could let you get free solar panels?
The scheme is called the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and is currently available for households throughout Wales, subject to certain qualifying criteria.
Do I qualify?
In order to qualify you must meet two qualifying criteria based on the heating type in your property and being in receipt of a qualifying benefit, although this will be changing soon.
Criteria 1 – Heating Type
Your home must be heated by electric using one of the following heating systems:
- Air source or ground source heat pump connected to radiators (including underfloor heating)
- Electric Storage Heaters
- Electric Boiler providing heat via radiators or underfloor heating
Criteria 2 – Qualifying Benefit
You must be in receipt of one of the following qualifying benefits:
I’m not receiving one of these benefits, can I be helped?
Up to 50% of energy efficiency measures installed in England, Wales and Scotland can be completed through the ECO4 Flex scheme and is for households whose combined gross income is below £31,000 per year or if you have certain health conditions which would make you vulnerable to the cold.
The ECO4 Flex scheme is administered by Local Authorities who are responsible for rolling it out in your area and they will verify your income or health eligibility. It is rolling out slowly and is expected to be fully live by April 2023.
